Good morning. It's Tuesday, October 13. This week is serving peak fall energy: a last-chance bite, a little community hustle, and even a 5K with zombies (because normal cardio is apparently too easy). If you like your plans with a side of local flavor, you're in the right place. Alright, here's today's edition of your Eugene Lowdown.
Three Businesses, One Big Block Party
Springfield is getting a triple ribbon-cut: Rico Rincon Mexican Street Food, Novedades Velamor, and Blinks Beauty Studios are teaming up for a joint grand opening with an outdoor pop-up market Sunday. Expect local vendors, a DJ, food samples, and plenty of reasons to shop small.
Cornucopia on 5th Closing
Got one last comfort-food craving to handle: Cornucopia Bar & Burgers on 5th & Pearl closes for good Sunday, ending a 17-year run. The original Cornucopia at 17th & Lincoln will keep serving. The team's also asking for leads on restaurants hiring, to help staff land on their feet.
A 5K Where Zombies Win Too
If your cardio needs a little menace, ShelterCare's Run for Your Life timed 5K is Sunday at Alton Baker Park, with more than 100 zombies tucked along the course. Expect face painting, a photo booth, and a zombie flash mob. Registration opens at 1:30 p.m.; the race starts at 3 p.m.
